Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Engineering Operations Technician for its Australian data centres. You will oversee critical infrastructure such as generators, UPS, cooling and building monitoring, ensuring uninterrupted service while maintaining safety and compliance.

You will troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance and collaborate with engineers, security and operations leaders to shape future facility performance and efficiency.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Own operational excellence of sophisticated critical infrastructure—including switch gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, and building monitoring systems
• Review and manage routine and corrective maintenance, conduct deep analyses and prepare reports that drive continuous improvement in facility operations
• Contribute to design, implementation, commissioning and build‑out of new facilities, shaping performance for years to come
• Develop and implement projects that push the boundaries of capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability
• Manage facility assets, inventory, infrastructure, and coordinate contractors and vendors on‑site to ensure compliance with practices, procedures and local legislation
• Collaborate with business leaders to optimise plant safety, performance, and efficiency across the operation

About the Team

We are experiencing rapid growth, therefore your onboarding will be dynamic in nature, where you will gain diverse experience working in new and established AWS data centre's. These future Amazonians will rotate through various AWS locations to complete training as part of their onboarding to prepare for deployment in a data centre region. This training will be completed over a duration of 6‑12 months. Once training is completed, individuals will be relocated to the permanent location.

Engineering Operations Technicians support the data centre building and the critical equipment that keeps it running. This includes diesel power generators, HVAC and fire suppression systems. They’re responsible for the day‑to‑day operations and maintenance of the critical infrastructure, supervising specialist vendors, acting as first responders to incidents, and becoming subject matter experts for the facility.

Basic Qualifications

• Knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls)
• Valid and active Driver's Licence
• Ability to cover 24/7 shift rotations

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of concepts and interaction of service management systems (problem and change)
• Degree or technical certification (Military or Trade school)
