About the role

Strategically aligning Coles’ suite of modern applications as they move from current state to the future state, drive standardisation of application engineering/development, operate and run. Maintain the platforms and drive self-service for platform consumers.

We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Senior Engineering Manager to lead multiple high-performing squads across our platform teams at Coles. This is a critical leadership role where you’ll drive the evolution of our modern application landscape and play a key part in shaping the future of digital retail at scale.

Experience:

  • 5+ year’s experience in leadership of multiple highly skilled technology teams and delivering large programs of work
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in product development teams
  • Experience building high performance teams, while coaching them to success using agile methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience working in complex system architectures, operations and support structures
  • Experience delivering outcomes as part of a cross-functional group, using onshore/offshore delivery model and with 3rd party vendors and integrators

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will line manage a team of 10-15
  • Coach them towards the desired behaviours, shared values and high performance (as individuals and as a team)
  • Report directly to the GM Digital Engineering & Data
  • You will drive engagement and morale
  • Provide feedback and guidance
  • You will be responsible for building and hiring for your teams according to the engineering hiring practices
  • You will be promoting a culture of collaboration, inclusiveness, openness and safety
  • You will be responsible to support team members career development, and performance management
  • Coach, support and mentor technical leaders and other people in your peer group
  • Champion a DevOps mindset – “you build it, you run it”
