Job summary

Mable is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join the Leap in! engineering group within the Attain Healthtech family. You will lead multiple squads, shape technical direction, and act as a people leader reporting to the CTO.

You will mentor engineers, drive modern practices like trunk-based development and DevOps, partner with product and design, and ensure delivery of high‑impact healthtech initiatives across backend, frontend, and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Strong technical background in general engineering.
• Delivered large engineering initiatives across multiple teams.
• Bachelor degree in CS or demonstrated self-learning.

Responsibilities

• Work with the senior engineering leadership team to build a quality engineering organisation.
• Support squad leaders with architecture and stakeholder management.
• Collaborate to improve core engineering practices across backend, frontend, infrastructure and quality practices.
• Help monitor squads delivery cadence and improve efficiency.
• Promote sound, modern engineering practices and tools within the squads (TDD, pair programming, efficient branching strategies).
• Teach and mentor your squads on sound technology choices and software design practices.
• Mentor and grow Engineers under your care.
• Collaborate on and recommend DevOps practices in the teams.
• Manage direct reports - Engineering Team Leads in each of your squads.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Engineering Manager to join the Leap in! engineering group (part of the broader Attain HealthTech engineering group). The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded technical leader able to work as a technical, team and people leader.

This role reports to the CTO and is responsible for leading multiple Engineering squads both in technical direction and architecture as well as delivery and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as part of the senior engineering leadership team to help build a quality engineering organisation
• Assist squad leaders to maintain their backlog providing assistance with architecture and stakeholder management
• Collaborate with engineering practice leads to improve core engineering practices across backend, front end, infrastructure and quality practices
• Help to monitor squads delivery cadence and work with a team on improving on their efficiency
• Promote sound, modern engineering practices and tools within the squads (TDD, pair programming, efficient branching strategies, etc)
• Teach and mentor your squads on making sound technology choices, software design practices and the ways of working
• Mentor and grow Engineers under your care
• Collaborate on and recommend sound DevOps practices in the teams
• Manage direct reports - Engineering Team Leads in each of your squads

Skills, Knowledge And Experience

• Strong technical background in general engineering
• Demonstrated experience in delivering large engineering initiatives across multiple teams
• Strong technical underpinnings - either through a bachelor of computer science degree or demonstrated self learning
• Previous team lead experience
• Good understanding of modern CD and software operations practices such as trunk-based development, 12 factor application principles in practice, utilisation of monitoring tools like Datadog, etc.
• Excellent communication skills and team-oriented mindset
• Have a ‘leave it better than you found it’ attitude towards code
