Job summary

Aldus Pty Ltd is seeking a senior design leader to head the packaging equipment design funnel in our Tronics office, Melbourne. You will guide a cross-functional team, mentor engineers, and ensure on-time project delivery across sales and production interfaces.

The role requires 10+ years in design/engineering, proven leadership, and strong communication. Travel locally and internationally is expected as part of this exciting opportunity.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in design, drafting, engineering leadership roles.
• Experience leading/mentoring technical teams.
• Strong 3D CAD proficiency, SolidWorks preferred.

Our head office is in West Ryde, New South Wales, and we proudly provide services throughout Australia. This position will be based in Victoria, in our Tronics office in Melbourne’s northern suburbs

Reporting to the Operations Manager and leading the engineering design team, the role is responsible for developing and implementing an inspirational vision for the packaging equipment funnel. In this role you will:

• Lead a cross functional design team to drive and foster a culture of innovation
• Mentor and develop a team of cross functional Technical Designers
• Manage design team projects, workload, resource planning and priorities
• Collaborate with Sales and Production teams to ensure seamless project delivery
• Monitor project progress and delivery schedules
• Contribute to strategic planning and departmental growth initiatives

You are a highly capable technical professional who enjoys leading people and developing high-performing teams. You are confident making decisions, setting priorities and holding people accountable, while maintaining a collaborative and supportive leadership style.

You understand the realities of manufacturing and can balance technical detail, commercial outcomes and team performance. You must have exceptional communication and influencing skills and be a highly motivated person, and have the following:

• Minimum 10 years' experience in design, drafting, engineering
• Previous experience leading, supervising or mentoring technical teams
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks is preferred)

You will also need to be able to travel locally and internationally to support this exciting position.
