Job summary

Covalent Lithium is seeking a Mining Engineer to join Mt Holland Technical Services on a permanent, full-time basis. The role involves supporting short and medium term planning, monitoring the mining contractor’s plans, and ensuring conformance from Mt Holland.

The successful candidate will contribute to IQP, LOM and annual budget processes, apply mine planning expertise, and help drive safe, efficient operations across the site while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years' experience in open pit mining operations and mine planning

• Proficiency with mining software (Alastri, Deswik, Vulcan, ShotPlus)

Responsibilities

• Provide technical input to the mine operations including mine planning, landform design, QA/QC and progress reporting
• Coordinate Mt Holland short-term planning (48hr, 2 week, IMP) and roll out plans to the business and contractors
• Assist in IQP, LOM and annual budget planning and reporting
• Ensure plans and budgets are followed and reporting is timely and accurate
• Promote safe mining operations and support Geotechnical data preparation

The Role

The purpose of this role is primarily to provide operational support to the Mt Holland Technical services team for short and medium planning horizons, and assist in monitoring the mining contractor and their plans to ensure conformance.

This is a permanent, full time position, on an 8/6 roster, ex FIFO from Perth to our Mt Holland mine site.

Key Responsibilities

Technical/Functional/Role

• Provide technical input to the mine operations including:
  • o Mine planning
  • o Mine, landform, and Infrastructure design
  • o Drill and Blast Design and QA/QC
  • o Progress reporting
  • o Contractor management
  • o Mining methodology

• Develop, communicate, and support Mt Holland short term planning (48hr, 2 week and Integrated Monthly Plan (IMP) including:
  • o Coordinate all inputs and assumptions (operational and maintenance) and lead the pre-planning meeting.
  • o Complete the plan and all reporting and roll the plan out to the business and contractors.
  • o Ensure compliance to plans is measured and reported with improvements and actions as needed.

• Assist in the completion of the Integrated Quarterly Planning (IQP), Life of Mine (LOM) and preparation of annual budget plans.
• Assist in reporting of all site activities including ensuring reports and measurements to budgets and forecasts.
• Ensure compliance to all approval's commitments and all approvals and reporting requirements are addressed in a timely way.
• Participate in reviews and understand the LOM and expansion study project.
• Drive safe mining operation philosophy and performance.
• Assist with Geotechnical data preparation.

Health, Safety, Environment and Community

• Participate in the establishment of an inclusive and successful health and safety culture in Mine Tech Services and at Mt Holland.
• Undertake all work in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with statutory requirements, all approvals and Covalent policies & procedures.
• Comply with all health and safety, environmental and regulatory policies relating to the project and ensure a safe working environment.
• Ensure all health, safety and environmental incidents are reported.

Financial/Budget

• Provide input into relevant budget and expenditure.
• Ensure compliance with budget and expenditure protocols and procedures.
• Participate in monthly Contractor claim evaluation and approval, provide support to any variation requests.
• Create purchase requisitions and review invoices against scope of work.
• Report Monthly with standard budget and variance reports accompanied by progress reports and descriptions.

Leadership and Team

• Ensure effective working relationships are built and maintained with other departments and stakeholders, both internal and external.
• Support and coach team members.
• Encourage peers, and other Covalent personnel to successfully achieve individual, departmental and company objectives.
• Support team members to manage priorities, workloads, planning, expectations, and performance.

Role Requirements

• 2-5 years' experience in open pit, hard rock mining operations and mine planning, preferably with lithium exposure.
• Drill and blast experience.
• Experience managing complex mining contracts.
• Mine software skills, including experience with mining related software in particular Alastri production and tactical scheduler software, Deswik, Vulcan and shotplus.
• Degree Qualified in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification, or relevant industry experience.
• A valid C Class Manual Driver's License
• Unrestricted WA Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency is desirable
