Job summary

Chubb is seeking a senior data engineering leader to act as the technical authority for data transformation in ANZ. You will shape architectural direction, set engineering standards, and connect business needs with a distributed data team.

You will drive AI-ready data platforms, mentor engineers, and collaborate with regional/global architects to balance timelines with strategic intent. This is a senior, influential role based in Sydney.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on data engineering experience in a large corporate environment.
• 3+ years in technical leadership or data architecture.
• Expert SQL and Python programming skills.
• Experience designing AI-ready data products for Agentic AI and GenAI/BI use cases.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling patterns, MLOps, DataOps, BI tools, and governance.

Responsibilities

• Establish and drive adoption of AI-ready data architecture and ontologies.
• Develop AI-infused data engineering frameworks across squads.
• Define and evolve data platform architecture with regional/global architects.
• Lead design of large-scale data products for analytics, AI, and ML.

To act as the technical authority for Chubb’s data transformation in ANZ, setting engineering standards, shaping architectural direction, and connecting business needs with a distributed data engineering team.

Key responsibilities;

• Establish and drive adoption of AI-ready data architecture, including ontologies, semantic layer design, knowledge repositories, and unstructured data repositories.
• Develop modern AI-infused data engineering frameworks, including spec-driven development, intelligent orchestration, and DataOps across multiple squads and micro-squads.
• Define and evolve data platform architecture with regional and global architects, balancing business timelines with strategic architecture intent.
• Lead the design of large-scale data products and capabilities supporting operational, advanced analytics, AI, and ML processes.
• Act as the local connection point between ANZ business leaders and the distributed engineering team, translating business intent into engineering precision.
• Guide and mentor engineers, and drive engineering disciplines that improve delivery velocity, platform trust, transparency, and production readiness

Ideal knowledge
