Job summary

Aurora Energy recruits an Energy Risk Analyst to navigate the Tasmanian energy market, delivering analysis, reporting, and insights that inform decisions and drive commercial outcomes.

You’ll work with Commercial Analysis, Financial Control and Energy Purchasing to develop models, improve risk frameworks, and tackle complex challenges, with hybrid working after probation and opportunities to learn and grow.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in energy, finance, risk or another commercially focused analytical environment.
• A tertiary qualification in Business, Economics, or a related field is required.

• Perform energy risk analyses, portfolio valuations and stress testing.

About The Role

As Energy Risk Analyst, you'll play an important role in helping Aurora Energy navigate a constantly evolving energy market. You'll provide the analysis, reporting and insights that help us understand risk, make informed decisions and deliver the best outcomes for our customers and business. From portfolio valuations and stress testing to risk and compliance reporting, your work will have a direct impact on our commercial success.

You'll join a collaborative and high-performing team, working closely with Commercial Analysis, Financial Control and Energy Purchasing to develop models, improve frameworks and solve complex challenges. This role offers plenty of variety, meaningful responsibility and opportunities to learn and grow.

About You

You're someone who loves making sense of data and getting to the "why" behind the numbers. Curious by nature, you enjoy tackling complex problems, asking thoughtful questions and turning insights into practical recommendations that help others make confident decisions

You bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a collaborative approach. Just as importantly, you're an effective communicator who enjoys working with others, sharing ideas and continuously looking for ways to improve how things are done. Success in this role will be supported by experience in energy, finance, risk, or another commercially focused analytical environment. A tertiary qualification in Business, Economics, or a related field is required.

This role sits within Commercial Services. This Business Unit looks after everything from energy market risk analysis and regulated price-setting, to payroll, settlements, payments and concessions, reporting, and our core finance functions. These teams play a crucial role in providing the support, insights, and planning needed to align with our business strategy. They track our performance against key KPIs to ensure we stay on course and deliver on our strategic objectives.
