Job summary

AGL Energy is seeking a Market Risk Analyst to provide independent oversight for a defined portfolio across electricity, gas, FX, interest rates and funding risks. You’ll support governance, analytics, and data inputs within the EMTR team in Melbourne.

This 12‑month role focuses on developing risk metrics, running stress tests, and communicating insights to stakeholders across Wholesale Markets, Treasury, Finance and Technology.

Qualifications

• Experience in market risk or treasury risk analysis.
• Understanding of risk governance and controls.
• Strong numeracy with statistical or mathematical techniques.
• Knowledge of financial instruments and risk concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent oversight and analysis of risk exposures for a defined portfolio.
• Monitor activities, identify material and emerging risks, and escalate as needed.
• Support investigations into policy breaches and risk events with remediation tracking.
• Develop and enhance market and treasury risk frameworks and governance.
• Create risk metrics, stress tests, and valuation data inputs.
• Prepare insights and reports for governance forums and audits.
• Support internal/external audits and regulatory reviews.
• Build stakeholder relationships and communicate technical analysis clearly.
