Job summary

Beneco in Canberra is seeking an Employment Consultant to support our growing team. The role partners with consultants to deliver long-lasting outcomes for clients and fosters an inclusive, collaborative culture.

You will empower jobseekers, coach on career readiness, create resumes, and connect participants with employers and training opportunities, while working independently to manage a caseload in a supportive office environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 months experience in same or similar role.
• Self-starter with ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience in roles with strong customer focus.
• Ability to source suitable employment opportunities for work-ready participants.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with employers and community organisations.
• Understanding of employer needs and labour markets.
• Strong passion for helping people.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to address barriers to return to work.
• Hold a full driver’s licence and access to own car.

Responsibilities

• Empower jobseekers by helping them develop realistic career strategies.
• Provide career counselling to empower job readiness.
• Create professional resumes and cover letters.
• Assist with interview skills training.
• Report to stakeholders and engage local businesses to facilitate work placements.
• Build a network of host employers.
• Facilitate access to vocational training.
• Work independently to manage caseload of jobseekers.
