Job description

Employee Relations Senior Advisor
Full-time Permanent

Details: Are you an experienced human resources professional who enjoys providing advice, solving complex employee matters and building strong workplace relationships?

The Human Resources Branch within Health and Community Services Directorate (HCSD) is seeking a motivated and collaborative Employee Relations Senior Advisor to join the Employee Relations team. In this role, you will provide accurate and trusted advice and support to managers and staff across a broad range of employee and industrial matters. As a key member of the team, you will apply your knowledge of the employment framework (ACTPS Enterprise Agreements, Public Sector Management Act 1994 and Fair Work Act 2009) and HR policy to deliver high-quality advice, analyse workforce issues, prepare correspondence and reports, and contribute to strategic workforce initiatives.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience providing advice on employee relations, industrial relations or broader human resource matters.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, enterprise agreements and HR policies.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written communications stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Experience using HR information systems (e.g. CHRIS21).

What we offer:

  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • Opportunities to build specialist employee relations expertise.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification or demonstrated relevant experience in human resources are highly desirable.

Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. This position operates under the ACT Government's hybrid working arrangements, providing flexibility to work from home and from an activity-based (ABW) office environment.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved.
