West Gippsland Healthcare Group in Warragul, VIC, is seeking experienced Emergency Medicine Consultants (FACEM) for multiple permanent part-time positions up to 38 hours/week. The department handles over 27,000 presentations annually with 25% paediatric cases and operates 24/7 staffing with on-call support.

Roles include credentialed scope within the Victorian Public Health Sector Medical Specialists Enterprise Agreement 2022-2026 or successor.

Qualifications

• Fellowship of the Australian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM).
• Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Demonstrated experience managing adult and paediatric emergency presentations, including advanced resuscitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Rostered between 7.30 am and 11.00 pm with after-hours on-call duties.
• Work within a well-supported multidisciplinary team and provide high-quality emergency care.
• Collaborate with on-call support from Physicians, Paediatricians, Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, Surgeons and Anaesthetists.

Emergency Medicine Consultant (FACEM)

Various permanent part time positions, up to 38 hours per week (4 shifts per week)

Victorian Public Health Sector Medical Specialists Enterprise Agreement 2022 - 2026 or successor, classification dependant of year level

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Emergency Medicine Consultants to join West Gippsland Healthcare Group (WGHG). Located approximately 100 km (1.5 hours) east of Melbourne, our 24-hour Emergency Department comprises 16 treatment spaces, including two resuscitation bays, and manages more than 27,000 presentations annually, with approximately 25% paediatric.

Consultants are rostered between 7.30 am and 11.00 pm, provide an after-hours on-call service, and work within a well-supported multidisciplinary team. Medical staffing includes Interns, Residents, GP Registrars, an accredited Emergency Medicine Registrar program and a 24/7 Medical Registrar. Additional specialist support is available on call from Physicians, Paediatricians, Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, Surgeons and Anaesthetists.

Warragul Hospital's Emergency Department is accredited by ACEM for the six-month Rural and Remote Special Skills rotation for FACEM trainees. Supported by an experienced and proactive nursing team, the department offers a collaborative, patient-centred environment with a strong commitment to education and high-quality emergency care.

West Gippsland Healthcare Group provides acute medical, surgical, obstetric, emergency, community and aged care services across the Shire of Baw Baw. Established in 1888, we serve a diverse rural, residential and agricultural community with a primary catchment population of approximately 47,000. Required Skills and Experience

• Fellowship of the Australian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM).
• Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Demonstrated experience managing adult and paediatric emergency presentations, including advanced resuscitation skills.

Our preferred candidate will have:

• Undertake medical practice within approved credentialed scope of clinical practice as an Emergency Medicine specialist.
• Provide evidence-based and quality clinical care of individual patients in all domains of medical practice:
• Clinical examination.
• Identification of clinical problems and health opportunities.
• Plan of overall clinical care and health promotion.
• Maintenance of concise but comprehensive, accurate, legible records of patient status and progress and associated correspondence.
• Ensure that patients are seen in a timely manner and maintain flow in the emergency department in order to meet required organisational and Department of Health targets.

IMPORTANT:

Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
