Job summary

ACT Policing Communications in Canberra is seeking two dedicated operators to join the 24/7 frontline team as Radio Operator and Call Taker. You will triage emergency and non-emergency calls, recording essential information to help coordinate police responses and resource deployment across incidents.

Ideal candidates demonstrate strong communication, calm decision-making under pressure, and the ability to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for Emergency Triple Zero (000) and non-emergency calls.
• Record time-critical information proficiently to task and assist responses.
• Record, monitor and report on operational activities using multiple databases and dispatch systems.
• Liaise with emergency services, Government agencies and support to provide high service levels.
• Monitor public safety CCTV to support investigations.
• Work on a 24/7 rostered shift pattern including nights and weekends.
• Meet eligibility: Australian citizenship and minimum age of 18.
