Job summary

Lunar Outpost Oceania is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer Intern to help develop, integrate and test embedded software for space robotics. You will connect embedded software with rover hardware and a ROS-based simulator, working with a team of engineers on a 12-week full-time onsite program in Burnley, Australia.

The role emphasizes collaboration across software, electrical, mechanical and systems engineers, with design and code reviews and adherence to safety processes.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years' experience studying an engineering discipline at university.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and electrical engineers, to integrate software systems.
Must be legally permitted to work in Australia.

Responsibilities

Contribute to developing and integrating C or C++ software components for embedded robotics systems.
Support the integrated test environment by linking rover avionics with ROS-based simulation-in-the-loop.
Configure, build, deploy and test software on embedded target hardware.
Develop test applications, utilities and automation scripts.
Verify interfaces between embedded software, robotics software and rover hardware.
Troubleshoot integration issues using logs, debuggers and lab equipment.
Perform functional, integration, hardware-in-the-loop, and end-to-end testing.
