Job summary

Ausgrid, based at the Wallsend Depot in New South Wales, is seeking an Electricity Supply Operative for a permanent full-time role. Working hours are 7am to 3:30pm, with a base salary of AU$88,207 plus 16.5% superannuation and a fortnightly RDO.

The role reports to the Field Supervisor and focuses on site preparation, equipment readiness, and safe operations to support network maintenance, construction and emergency restoration work.

Qualifications

  • Class HR or HC licence.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations, and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.
  • WH&S WorkCover – General Induction.
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation of plant and equipment.
  • Competence in the use of various hand, power operated and specialised tools.
  • Asbestos awareness and understanding of how to work safely with asbestos materials.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating with others.
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of safe manual handling techniques.
  • Basic skills in the use of computers and mobile devices.
  • Experience in erecting and removing of poles (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Field Supervisor, you will support construction, maintenance and breakdown work of assets.
  • Prepare work sites and equipment to enable safe completion of works.
  • Participate in emergency restoration work and operate plant, machinery, and vehicles.
  • Act as a safety observer for activities on or around the network.

Reporting to the Field Supervisor, the Electricity Supply Operative will have a vital role in providing general services to support the construction, maintenance and breakdown work of the organisation’s property and network assets. You willprepare work sites and equipment to enable the wider team to perform safe completion of works, participating in emergency restoration work, safely operating plant, machinery, equipment and vehicles and acting as a safety observer for activities on or around the network.

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic collaborator and self-starter who is able to work in fast paced environments. They will demonstrate a safety focused approach in a high-risk industry.
