Job summary

Gapcon Power Solutions is seeking a qualified A-Grade Licensed Electrician to join our Perth-based team. This full-time role covers the installation, testing, maintenance and commissioning of HV and LV protection systems across industrial and utility sites.

The position requires 5+ years in protection testing/maintenance, a WA A-Grade Electrical Licence and a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or equivalent. Occupational safety and collaboration with project teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in protection testing, commissioning or maintenance in power/heavy-industrial sectors.
• WA A-Grade Electrical Licence is required.
• Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, testing and maintenance of HV/LV protection relays and breakers.
• Install and wire protection systems per diagrams and schematics.
• Analyse protection settings and relay configurations to resolve issues.
• Conduct commissioning and functional verification of new systems.
• Provide technical support to project, engineering and maintenance teams.
• Ensure work complies with safety legislation, site standards and procedures.
• Contribute to protection testing process improvements and safety outcomes.

About the Role:

Gapcon Power Solutions is seeking a qualified A-Grade Licensed Electrician to join our Perth-based team. This full-time position involves the installation, testing, maintenance and commissioning of high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical protection systems across industrial and utility sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections, testing and maintenance of HV/LV protection relays, circuit breakers and associated equipment.
• Install and wire protection systems in accordance with schematic and single-line diagrams.
• Analyse and interpret protection settings, relay configurations and fault records to identify and resolve operational issues.
• Conduct commissioning and functional verification of new protection systems.
• Provide technical support to project, engineering and maintenance teams.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with electrical safety legislation, site standards and company procedures.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of protection testing processes and safety outcomes.

Skills and Experience:

• Current WA A-Grade Electrical Licence.
• Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in protection testing, commissioning or maintenance in the power or heavy-industrial sector.
• Strong understanding of protection principles, fault-finding and relay coordination.
• Experience using secondary injection, primary injection and relay testing equipment.
• High attention to safety, accuracy and quality control.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
