Job summary

Chess Electrics is seeking an experienced Electrician for casual positions across the Mackay region. You will install, maintain and repair electrical systems at mining and resources sites, contributing to safe and efficient operations.

This role offers flexibility with casual schedules and diverse projects. You'll work both independently and with site teams, following safety standards and regulatory requirements while expanding your skills across electrical applications.

Qualifications

• Valid electrical licence recognised in Queensland.
• Experience as Electrician in mining/resources/energy sector.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems and safety standards.
• Commitment to health and safety and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Flexibility for casual work arrangements.
• Certifications: S11, CBM, CPR/LVR and Working at Heights.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair electrical systems at client sites.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot faults and minimise downtime.
• Read blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards, regulations and industry best practices.
• Maintain records of work, materials used and issues identified.
• Collaborate with other trades and site teams to complete projects.

Chess Electrics is seeking an experienced and reliable Electricians to join our team. These are casual positions which play a vital role in supporting mining, resources and energy operations across the region. As an Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment that are critical to our clients' operations. This role offers flexibility and the opportunity to work on diverse projects within the mining and resources sector, contributing directly to the safety and efficiency of operational sites.

Key responsibilities

• Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, equipment and components at client sites
• Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance
• Troubleshooting electrical faults and implementing timely solutions to minimise downtime
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and electrical schematics
• Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with relevant safety standards, regulations and industry best practices
• Maintaining accurate records of work completed, materials used and any issues identified
• Collaborating with other tradespeople and site teams to complete projects efficiently
• Adhering to site-specific safety protocols and contributing to a strong safety culture

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as an Electrician in the mining, resources or energy sector
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment and industry-standard practices
