Job summary

Scape Brisbane is seeking a hands-on Electrician to join our Facilities team across Southbank and Woolloongabba locations. You’ll diagnose faults, repair wiring and control systems, and assist with upgrades to keep resident housing safe and well-maintained.

You’ll work closely with Facilities Managers, maintain records, and participate in on-call rosters. A current electrical licence, First Aid, and a valid driver’s licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Current, government-issued Electrical Licence required.
• Experience providing electrical services across properties.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution (single and three-phase) and control systems.
• Ability reading and interpreting electrical schematics and as-builts.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work unsupervised.
• Strong verbal and written communication across teams.
• Certifications for high-risk work, working at heights, or confined spaces are advantageous.
• Current First Aid Certificate and valid driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and scheduled maintenance on electrical equipment to prevent breakdowns.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults using testing equipment; replace wiring, switches, circuits, outlets, and light fittings as needed.
• Install and commission new equipment or upgrades, ensuring compliance with Wiring Rules and regulations.
• Maintain maintenance records, inspection logs, and updated wiring diagrams.
• Coordinate with Facilities Managers and other trades to minimise resident disruption.
• Participate in a 7-day on-call roster for emergency repairs.

THE ROLE

Joining our Facilities team and working across an allocated Scape portfolio, you'll help keep the best purpose-built student accommodation in Australia running safely and smoothly. Electricians are responsible for the fault diagnosis, repair & replacement of electrical components and systems across our properties, working closely with Facilities Managers to ensure residents enjoy a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained place to live.

Key areas of responsibility for the successful candidate will include:

• Performing routine inspections and scheduled maintenance on electrical equipment and systems (lighting, power distribution, control systems etc.) to prevent unplanned breakdowns
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults using appropriate testing equipment, and repairing or replacing faulty wiring, switches, circuit breakers, general power outlets and light fittings
• Installing, testing and commissioning new equipment or system upgrades during capital works or facility modifications, ensuring all work meets AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) and relevant state regulations
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records, inspection logs and up-to-date wiring diagrams
• Liaising and coordinating with Facilities Managers and other maintenance trades to schedule work and minimise disruption to residents
• Participating in a 7-day on-call roster, responding promptly to emergency breakdowns and urgent repairs outside normal working hours
• Identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency and recommending upgrades, repairs or fixture replacements where appropriate

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are seeking a hands-on, safety-conscious tradesperson who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a supportive, fast-paced team.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• A current, government-issued Electrical Licence (specific requirements vary by state/territory)
• Experience providing electrical services, and using and maintaining power tools and equipment
• Strong knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution (single and three-phase) and control systems
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, as-builts and technical manuals
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work unsupervised and follow directions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across teams
• Additional certifications for high-risk work, working at heights, or confined spaces are advantageous
• A current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain) and valid driver's licence
