Job summary

Norsafe, based in Cairns, Far North Queensland, delivers electrical safety inspection services across industries. The Electrical Test and Tag Technician conducts testing and tagging, reports results, and ensures client compliance with AS/NZS standards.

The role supports professional customer service, safe work practices, and efficient job management, with travel to regional sites and potential for a permanent role after probation.

Qualifications

• Current valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening, police checks and site medicals as required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete repetitive technical tasks accurately.
• Professional, customer-focused communication.
• Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple client sites.
• Familiarity with scheduling, reporting and asset records on mobile/desktop.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test and tag electrical equipment per AS/NZS standards and Norsafe procedures.
• Perform visual inspections, earth continuity, insulation resistance, polarity checks and related tests.
• Test residual current devices where required and document results.
• Identify unsafe or non-compliant equipment and report to client.
• Enter results, assets, defects and follow-up actions in Norsafe systems.
• Communicate with clients to organise access and explain issues clearly.
• Maintain testing equipment, labels and documentation in safe condition.
• Follow WHS procedures, site rules and client induction requirements.
• Travel to regional/remote locations with occasional overnight stays.
• Represent Norsafe with professionalism and integrity.
