Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Sydney, NSW, is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join the Rail Team supporting the Sydney Trains fleet. You will diagnose, repair and maintain power gen equipment, train apprentices, and coordinate branch workload while ensuring NSW certification is met.

The role is on-site with a structured workshop environment. The successful candidate will bring electrical trade certification, HV/LV exposure, and standby/prime generator service experience, with readiness to work

Qualifications

• Must hold current electrical certification / tickets.
• Basic knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products.
• High Voltage / Low Voltage experience preferred.
• Experience in servicing and maintenance of standby and prime power generators.
• Experience in commercial / industrial electrical works.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and complete basic repairs using specialized tools and follow documented procedures.
• Support the Sydney Trains auxiliary assets of their regional diesel fleet.
• Perform preventative maintenance on power generation products in the field.
• Complete required documentation such as service worksheets and timesheets.
• Train electrical apprentices in and out of the branch.
• Coordinate jobs and delegate workload within the branch.
• Understand relevant electrical certification required in NSW.
• Complete in workshop repairs as required.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our high performing Rail Team working on Sydney Train Fleet in Wetherill Park, NSW.

You will make an impact in the following ways:

• Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete basic repairs, including preparing required parts and tools
• Support the Sydney Trains auxiliary assets of their regional diesel fleet
• Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on power generation products in the field
• Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims via handwritten forms or business system input screens
• Completes training in line with skill and business requirements
• Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation
• Train electrical apprentices in and out of the branch.
• Coordinate jobs and responsibilities within the branch and delegate workload.
• Understand relevant electrical certification required in country
• Complete in workshop repairs as required

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Current relevant electrical certification / tickets
• Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products
• High Voltage / Low Voltage Experience preferred
• Experience in servicing and maintenance of standby and prime power generators
• Experience in commercial / industrial electrical works

Additional Information:

• Full Time / 38 hours per week
• Competitive Hourly Rate
• Overtime as required – Penalty rates paid for all work above 38 hours
• All your Safety equipment / PPE and uniforms are provided and laundered
• Local Valid Drivers License is required
• You must be trade certified to work in NSW.
