Job summary

Orange City Council in Orange, NSW, is seeking an experienced Lead Electrician to manage building electrical maintenance, lead a team of electricians and contractors, and ensure safe, compliant operation across diverse facilities.

You will guide project delivery, oversee budgets and essential systems (HVAC, BMS), and build strong relationships with stakeholders to support reliable community services.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience across domestic, commercial and industrial electrical work, including solar systems and building management systems.
• Maintenance experience for HVAC, security, automatic doors and gates, and building lifts.
• Strong leadership and supervisory capability coaching, mentoring and managing staff, apprentices, contractors and contracts.
• Excellent planning, prioritisation, cost-estimating and stakeholder-management skills.
• Electrical Trade Certificate and current Electrical Supervisor Licence.
• Current Class C Driver Licence, White Card, Working at Heights certification, Elevated Work Platform Licence (>11m) and Level 2 Service Accreditation.
• Aerodrome Lighting Course and Aerodrome Security Identification Card, or ability to obtain them.

Responsibilities

Salary: From $85,037 (plus allowances and superannuation)

About the Role

Lead the people, projects and essential electrical services that keep Council’s buildings and community infrastructure safe, compliant and performing at their best. Reporting to the Manager Building Services, you’ll combine technical expertise with practical leadership to deliver reliable services, develop your team and create visible impact across Orange.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Extensive experience across domestic, commercial and industrial electrical work, including the installation and maintenance of solar systems and building management systems
• Demonstrated experience delivering maintenance services for HVAC, security, automatic doors and gates, and building lifts
• Strong leadership and supervisory capability, with experience coaching, mentoring and managing staff, apprentices, contractors and contracts
• Excellent planning, prioritisation, cost-estimating and stakeholder-management skills
• Electrical Trade Certificate and current Electrical Supervisor Licence
• Current Class C Driver Licence, White Card, Working at Heights certification, Elevated Work Platform Licence (>11m) and Level 2 Service Accreditation
• Aerodrome Lighting Course and Aerodrome Security Identification Card, or the ability to obtain them
