ELECTRICAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN - Hamilton Island

Join one of Australia’s most iconic destinations in a unique, hands-on role that offers more than just a job - it’s a lifestyle upgrade. Hamilton Island is seeking an experienced Electrical Services Technician to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our on-island electrical distribution network.

Hamilton Island generates, transmits and distributes electricity, supplies water and wastewater treatment services across the entire Island for the benefit of residents, guests, employees and our community. Hamilton Island owns and operates our electrical distribution network comprising a 22km-long submarine high voltage power cable from the mainland, 50 kiosk substations, and a backup power station. This role is ideal for a qualified electrician who thrives in a dynamic, outdoor environment and is ready to trade traffic for palm trees.

Where you’ll make an impact
  • Maintain and operate both HV and LV electrical networks, including backup diesel generation plant
  • Install, joint and terminate HV and LV cabling across the island
  • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance, including airport runway lighting and energy meters
  • Perform first-response to lift breakdowns and urgent electrical faults
  • Support critical island systems – including hazardous fuel facilities, water, and sewerage plants
  • Participate in an on-call roster to respond to after-hours breakdowns
What we’re looking for

You’re a trade-qualified electrician with a safety-first mindset and strong problem-solving skills. You’re also someone who values teamwork, takes pride in their work, and is ready to apply their experience in a truly unique setting.

To be successful, you’ll need:
  • QLD Electrical Licence or ability to transfer from interstate
  • Open/unrestricted driver’s licence
  • Ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call roster
Experience in any of the following is highly regarded:
  • Electrical distribution networks, SCADA/PLC systems
  • High voltage switching, coordination, jointing and termination
  • Water/sewerage instrumentation and diesel generators
  • Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA)
  • Airfield lighting systems
