Job summary

Vestas is seeking an Electrical Service Technician for Taralga Wind Farm. This full-time, long-term on-site role involves maintaining wind turbines, electrical systems, and working within a small on-site service team.

You will perform scheduled service, reactive maintenance, and ensure safety, with potential travel to other sites. Applicants must have an Australian electrical license and be willing to work at heights and in a hands-on, team environment.

Qualifications

• Electrical license recognised in Australia.
• Ability to read/interpret technical drawings to support fault-finding and maintenance.
• Knowledge of PLC and/or SCADA systems.
• Motivation to learn new skills and thrive in a growing industry.
• Understanding of safety principles and adherence to safety compliance.
• Experience with HV/LV, hydraulics, and mechanical systems in various environments.

Responsibilities

• Undertake scheduled service and reactive maintenance.
• Respond to site outside normal hours for reactive maintenance on a rostered basis.
• Maintain all company vehicles and plant equipment.
• Operate HV and LV within training and authorization.
• Follow safety codes of practice and OH&S requirements at all times.
• Attend site inductions and SMA requirements.

Electrical Service Technician- Taralga Wind Farm

Vestas have an exciting opportunity available at Taralga Wind Farm for a full time and long-term Electrical Service Technician.

Are you interested in electricity, mechanics, and hydraulics? Do you want to play an important part in keeping our wind turbines running?

Do you want to contribute to the transition towards a world powered by renewable energy?

This role is for a qualified and enthusiastic electrical technician to work in our collaborative service team. The department is a small team environment based on site at Taralga Wind Farm. The technicians report to the site supervisor and are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the wind turbines in accordance with the contract.

Support is provided by an administrator and a planner with KPIs given by the Area Service Manager.

Responsibilities

Undertake scheduled service and reactive maintenance

Respond and attend site outside normal working hours to undertake reactive maintenance on a rostered basis

Maintain all company vehicles and keep plant equipment in good clean condition

Undertake operations and maintenance within the limits of training and authorisation including operation of HV and LV

Ensuring that each task is undertaken in a manner that ensure the safety of personnel, protects the environment, and work methods are followed at all times

Attend the site induction

Undertake the requirements of the SMA (Service Maintenance Agreement)

Complying with the duty of care assigned under OH&S legislation and demonstrate commitment to accident prevention

Observing all work instructions, procedures, safety codes of practice, employer OH&S and Environmental requirements and statutory rules and regulations

Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as required

Participate in safety, toolbox or other meetings where required

All other duties within competence, skill, qualifications and experience as directed

Qualifications

Australia recognised Electrical License

Literate with PC & modern technologies to support your day-to-day work

Ability to read/interpret technical drawings to support fault-finding and/or maintenance activities

Any knowledge of PLC and/or SCADA systems

Motivation to learn new skills and thrive in a growing industry

Understanding of safety principles, willing to adhere to and drive safety compliance company-wide

Experience with HV/LV, hydraulics, and mechanical systems in a residential, commercial, and/or industrial environment

Proficient in the use of various hand tools

Strong communicational skills, ability to work in a small team

Ability to work at heights in confined environments
