Job summary

Vestas is seeking a skilled wind turbine technician to service and inspect turbines across regional Australia. You will perform inspections, replace components and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems, ensuring reliable turbine operation and adherence to safety standards.

Role involves substantial travel within regions, on-call weekends approximately every 3–4 weeks, and maintaining a stocked service vehicle.

Qualifications

• Electrical, mechanical or hydraulic trade qualification.
• Good English skills (written and verbal).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with monitoring/recording tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform service inspections and component replacement per Vestas specifications.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems on turbines.
• Ensure smooth turbine operation and timely use of monitoring/remote control systems.
• Maintain service vehicle and warehouse stock; order parts as needed.
• Assemble and service components using appropriate cranes where required.

Job description

Travel days: approx. 50 days/year

Work Location

• Across Regional Australia - This is not a FIFO role and you will need to be in the region
• WA – Merredin, Jurian Bay, Geraldton
• SA – Port Augusta/Whyalla, Millicent/Mt Gambier
• VIC – Warnambool, Ballarat, Sale
• NSW – Canberra/Goulburn, Inverall/Glen Innes
• QLD – Hughenden, Chinchilla/Dulacca, Atherton
• TAS – Musselroe, Granville Harbour

Working hours: 8 hours/day, approximately on call once every 3-4 weeks on the weekend

Responsibilities

• Work to the highest safety and environmental standards whilst ensuring that service targets are met
• Carry out periodic service inspections in accordance with Vestas' specifications alongside both electrical, mechanical, and hydraulics component replacement and troubleshooting
• Ensure a smooth operation of our turbines and use of our systems within condition monitoring and remote control
• Maintain an efficient service vehicle and well-stocked warehouse by ordering materials, tools, and spare parts when needed
• Assemble and service components according to current standards and work instructions, if necessary, making use of internal or external cranes

Qualifications

• Electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic trade accompanied by a passion to develop your skills further within these fields
• Good computer skills; experienced in handling different tools or systems to monitor work and documentation
• Good English skills, both written and verbal
• Valid driver's license

• A significant understanding of and commitment to the highest standard of health and safety in the work environment
• Ability to climb a wind turbine and perform tough physical labour at heights as well as in various weather conditions
• Open to travel to other sites when required
• Enjoy working in teams and communicating with numerous stakeholders; you will work closely with others in the field but also connect with the wider business
• Solutions-oriented, independent, and well organized in your work
