Job summary

ACCIONA is seeking a Linesperson (B6) to install, repair and maintain overhead and underground power networks up to 500kV across NSW projects. This role requires technical capability, a strong safety record, and the ability to work across multiple structure types.

You will study drawings, install and repair transmission components, and operate field equipment. Camp-based rosters are expected, with travel to Central West Orana and HumeLink sites.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III in ESI Transmission Overhead or 3+ years in line work.
• Certificate II in ESI Transmission is the minimum qualification.
• Strong safety record and valid NSW Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Study technical drawings and maps for overhead lines.
• Install, maintain and repair overhead and underground transmission components.
• Operate plant and equipment for transmission network work.
• Work on structures for up to 500kV and perform pole/tower activities.

Job Description

The Projects Central West Orana Acciona Construction Australia Pty Ltd is part of a consortium including Cobra and Endeavour Energy that have entered a commitment deed with EnergyCo as preferred network operator for the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). This will be serviced by new transmission network infrastructure, including transmission lines and energy hubs, which will transfer power generated by solar and wind farms to electricity consumers. HumeLink East Acciona Construction Australia Pty Ltd and Genus Infrastructure (NSW) Pty Ltd have been engaged by Transgrid to deliver the eastern portion of the HumeLink project. HumeLink East involves the expansion of the existing Bannaby 500 kV substation, along with the design and construction of a new 500 kV double circuit transmission line. This new transmission line will connect the Bannaby 500 kV substation at the Wondalga interface point with HumeLink West.

Role Overview

The Linesperson (B6) is responsible for skilled installation, repair and maintenance of overhead and underground power networks in accordance with project and team goals. This role requires technical capability, a strong safety record, and the ability to work across a variety of structure types and voltages, including up to 500kV.

Key Duties

• Study and interpret technical drawings, network line diagrams and maps.
• Install, maintain and repair overhead conductors and underground cables, as well as associated hardware, fittings and equipment to ensure system reliability.
• Operate plant and equipment associated with installation and maintenance of transmission networks.
• Work on various structure types for transmission lines at voltages up to 500kV.
• Climb poles and towers, or operate and work in elevated work platforms (EWP).
• Install and repair towers, poles, cables, and related electrical equipment for overhead transmission systems.

Required Skills and Competencies

• AQF Certificate III in ESI Transmission Overhead (or equivalent) OR a minimum of three (3) years’ relevant full-time experience in transmission line construction, utilities, or electrical distribution.
• Certificate II in ESI Transmission (minimum).
• 3-5 years’ demonstrated experience in overhead and underground line installation, repair, and maintenance.
• Demonstrated strong safety record and knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety.
• Valid NSW Driver’s License.
• OH&S Construction Safety Induction (White Card).
• Current National Police Clearance.
• High Risk Work Licenses: EWP, Rigging, Tower Rescue.
• CPR Certificate and Senior First Aid (desirable).

Camp Accommodation

Central West Orana: Camp accommodation will be provided at Merotherie, NSW, with extensive facilities including mess halls, gym, recreation areas, and onsite convenience store.

HumeLink East: Camp accommodation will be provided in Yass and Adjungbilly, with facilities including gym, mess halls, laundry, and wellness support.

Rosters

Rosters will vary depending on project requirements. Candidates should be willing to work on swing-style roster arrangements that may include extended periods on site followed by periods of leave.
