Job summary

BlueScope Steel is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Asset Improvement Coordinator to join the Gas Processing Maintenance team at Port Kembla.

The role focuses on improving the reliability, availability, maintainability and performance of electrical, instrumentation, automation and control‑system assets, coordinating projects from concept to handover while collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and contractors.

Qualifications

• Experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing or continuous‑process environment.
• Strong fault‑finding and problem-solving capability.
• Experience developing or reviewing maintenance and asset strategies.
• Experience coordinating work across Maintenance, Operations, Engineering and contractors.
• Experience using SAP or CMMS.
• Oil and gas or similar process industry experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to Electrical, Instrumentation, Maintenance and Asset teams for planned and breakdown maintenance tasks.
• Fault‑find, diagnose and resolve issues involving HMIs, drives, instrumentation, control systems, electrical distribution and PLCs; lead RCA and reliability investigations.
• Investigate equipment failures, alarms and process interruptions to identify recurring problems and improve maintenance strategies and plans.
• Develop scopes of work, technical specifications and project execution plans; monitor completion to standards.
• Coordinate site execution including planning, scheduling, permits, isolations, safety, supervision, contractor management and procurement.
• Ensure plant modifications comply with approved engineering and change‑control processes.
• Keep technical documentation up to date (drawings, manuals, datasheets, parts lists, commissioning records) and ensure regulatory/environmental compliance.
• Assist with Capital, R&M and SDC budgets and expenditure management.
• Support Gas Processing plant to be operational at all times, including after‑hours support when required.
