Job summary

Workfast is partnering with an Australian engineering and manufacturing company to source experienced Electrical Tradespersons for a dynamic, hands-on field role across Queensland. You will diagnose, repair, and commission specialised underground mining and face machinery, traveling to sites such as Emerald, Mackay, or Rockhampton.

This role offers a path from contract to permanent employment with attractive hourly rates.

Qualifications

• Electrical trade qualification and current electrical licence.
• Experience in underground coal mining field service with coal cutting/face machinery.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic capabilities with ability to read electrical diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical faults on underground mining equipment.
• Execute planned and preventative maintenance and emergency field service calls.
• Provide hands‑on technical support for coal cutting and face machinery underground.
• Complete rebuilds, rewiring, component changes, and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Conduct pre‑start checks, statutory testing and safety inspections.
• Read and execute work from complex electrical schematics and scopes of work.
• Build professional relationships with customer and site teams.

This is a dynamic, hands on field position focusing on electrical diagnostics, breakdowns, repairs, rebuilds, and commissioning of specialised underground mining, material handling, and face machinery.

• Contract to permanent positions

This is a dynamic, hands on field position focusing on electrical diagnostics, breakdowns, repairs, rebuilds, and commissioning of specialised underground mining, material handling, and face machinery.

• $77 / hr + allowances
• DIDO (Emerald, Mackay, or Rockhampton, QLD)
• Contract to permanent positions

You will travel across Queensland, heading underground to support coal mining operations, troubleshoot complex electrical faults, and keep critical machinery in production.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical faults on specialised underground mining equipment.
• Execute planned maintenance, preventative maintenance, and emergency breakdown field service call-outs.
• Provide hands-on technical support for coal cutting and face machinery underground.
• Complete comprehensive electrical equipment rebuilds, rewiring, component change-outs, and commissioning.
• Conduct pre-start checks, statutory testing, and rigorous safety inspections.
• Read and execute work from complex electrical schematics and scopes of work.
• Build strong, professional relationships with customer and site teams.

Key Requirements

• Relevant Electrical Trade Qualification and current Electrical Licence.
• Proven field service experience within underground coal mining, with an extensive background in coal cutting and face machinery.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities, with the ability to read and interpret electrical engineering schematics.
• Current Driver’s Licence.
• Highly autonomous, strong work ethic, serious commitment to safety, and the flexibility to work overtime and travel across NSW and QLD.
• Current Coal Board Medical, CPR/LVR tickets, Forklift Licence, and broad experience across various underground face machinery.
