Job summary

Regenerate Talent Pty is partnering with an Australian energy storage company in Melbourne to recruit a Senior Electrical Engineer. You will lead electrical design from design through commissioning, owning technical decisions and shaping grid‑connected and microgrid projects.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with EPCs, DNSPs, OEMs and consultants, and advance safety‑in‑design practices across the business. A hands‑on role with strong design and stakeholder engagement awaits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
• Proven experience delivering electrical/project engineering in power, renewables, or industrial infra.
• Strong grounding in protection and control, earthing, cable sizing and switchboards/substations.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of electrical design for grid‑connected, off‑grid and microgrid storage projects.
• Prepare and review SLDs, schematics, cable schedules, specifications, calculations and design packages.
• Verify MV and LV designs, including transformers, RMUs, switchboards, protection, metering and auxiliary systems.
• Mentor Project Engineers, drafters and external engineers, and review their work for quality.
• Lead design workshops, Safety‑in‑Design assessments and constructability reviews.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning and troubleshooting, including PPC/EMS integration, protection validation and grid‑compliance testing.
• Manage technical risks and design variations, and make clear recommendations to the team.

Our client is an Australian energy storage company delivering battery projects across the commercial, industrial and small-utility markets. They’re growing their engineering team and looking for a senior electrical engineer who wants real technical ownership on projects that are shaping the grid.

The role

You’ll lead the electrical engineering on BESS projects from early design through to commissioning and handover. It’s a hands‑on senior position that combines detailed design with design assurance, mentoring and stakeholder engagement. You’ll be the go‑to technical voice for EPCs, DNSPs, OEMs and consultants, and you’ll help lift engineering standards across the business.

What you’ll do

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Proven experience delivering electrical or project engineering in power, renewables, BESS, utilities or industrial infrastructure
• Strong grounding in protection and control, earthing, cable sizing and switchboard or substation design
• Working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 61439 and grid‑connection requirements
• Solid Safety in Design and risk‑based decision‑making experience
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills

Highly regarded

• BESS, solar, microgrid or substation project experience
• Exposure to SCADA, PLC, PPC or EMS systems
