The Australian Government The Treasury is seeking an EL1 Assistant Director of Procurement to lead Treasury’s procurement function in Canberra. You will provide strategic direction, expert advice and oversight to ensure procurement activities deliver value for money and meet governance, probity and legislative requirements.

You will manage a small team and drive capability development and consistent procurement practices across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a central procurement role with knowledge of procurement policies and relevant legislation.
• Experience leading and developing a small team, including coaching staff and fostering a high-performing culture.
• Experience coordinating procurement reporting activities.
• Ability to provide specialist procurement advice on complex, high-value and sensitive procurements.
• Ability to make decisions based on professional judgement that complies with legislative requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with changing priorities and tight timeframes.
• Strategic thinking aligned with business needs and agency goals.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, within senior-management constraints.

Responsibilities

• Lead Treasury’s procurement function, providing strategic direction and oversight to deliver value for money and governance requirements.
• Provide authoritative guidance on complex procurement matters to senior executives and business areas.
• Oversee procurement governance, reporting, risk identification and policy development across the department.
• Collaborate across the department to enable business areas to achieve objectives while maintaining accountability and stewardship of public resources.
