As the EHS Manager at Givaudan Australia, you will be based in Sydney, Australia. You will provide leadership and oversight for all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities across the Oceania business, ensuring full compliance with Givaudan’s EHS policies and procedures as well as all relevant local legislation and regulations. Drive risk management initiatives and lead cultural transformation efforts to minimize the likelihood of EHS incidents. Effectively manage and enhance the EHS function to deliver strategic value to the organization, while actively promoting a strong EHS culture at all levels.

In this exciting role, you will directly report to the Company Manager, Oceania and indirectly report to EHS Regional Director APAC T&W.

This is an individual contributor role that requires strong prioritisation and time management skills to succeed. You will be expected to operate effectively at both a strategic level and in a hands-on capacity. The ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders across all levels — from senior management to the broader workforce — is essential.

  • Develop and implement an EHS vision within the Oceania business that aligns with the Givaudan Group’s strategy for EHS and local legislation and regulations.
  • Provide support and guidance to Local Oceania Management on all EHS aspects; serve as a coach to line managers to ensure EHS is recognized and maintained as a line responsibility.
  • Work with local management and stakeholders to continually focus on building a robust EHS culture across the Oceania organisation, including the implementation of behavior-based safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all Givaudan group and local legislative and regulatory EHS requirements, with specific focus on the management of
      • Chemical and Hazardous materials
      • Dangerous Goods
      • Occupational Health
      • Fire Safety
  • Accurately complete and submit Givaudan group and local regulatory reports.
  • Oversee EHS training and onboarding for new and existing employees and contractors at Oceania sites.
  • Collaborate with the business to establish robust risk management practices.
  • Ensure strict implementation of Health and Safety programs.
  • Develop and execute effective emergency planning.
  • Monitor site safety behavioural audits and incidents; analyse trends in audits, incidents, and near misses, and report findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to agree on and align actions addressing audit or incident findings, ensuring they are initiated, monitored, and updated until completion.
  • Lead the employee safety committee to enhance safety awareness across the Oceania business by fostering a collaborative and consultative approach to build and maintain a culture in Oceania that will improve overall safety at the Oceania business. Ensure the committee is focused on driving identified issues to resolution. Ensure committee governance and structure comply with Givaudan and local legislative requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure all hazardous and non-hazardous waste activities are maintained in line with legislation and ensure necessary documentation maintained.
  • Foster positive relationships with relevant external stakeholders, including authorities, communities, and networks.
  • Serve as the primary contact for federal, state, and local EHS regulatory agencies.
  • Act as the main liaison and maintain close communications with other functions and departments within Givaudan both locally, regionally and globally.

Your professional profile includes:

  • 8 to 10 years EHS experience in a chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, EHS or other related field. A specific EHS certification is ideal.
  • Working Knowledge of local Australia and New Zealand EHS Legal framework and compliance requirements
  • Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders and a local, regional and global level
  • Knowledge in Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control
  • Strong Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis skills
  • Audit, including experience on EHS related audits such as SMETA (Sedex) and Property Insurance.
