Job summary

Maryborough Education Centre invites applications for an Education Support Officer – Teachers Assistant. The role supports teachers, coordinates education support staff, and assists students with routines and wellbeing within a collaborative school environment.

Responsibilities include planning student routines, liaising with teachers and parents, and providing basic care and specialised communication support as required.

• Demonstrated capacity to coordinate and support others in respect to specific work functions.
• Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate in a team environment.
• Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively in a team environment, including high level oral and written communication.
• Possess technical knowledge relevant to the position.
• Demonstrated ability to provide advice and support to management and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine support for teachers including assisting with planning of student routines.
• Supports communication between teachers and parents.
• Communicates with teachers on routine matters related to students and responsibilities.
• Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students such as toileting, meals, and lifting.
• Communicates with students to support comprehension of basic tasks and information.
• Addresses immediate behavioural presentations within classroom settings.
• Coordinates and rosters education support staff under supervision.
• Provides medical intervention support to students under guidance.
• Delivers specialised communication support such as AUSLAN and braille.
