Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) invites applications for an Education Support Educator. The role focuses on teaching the Certificate IV in School Based Education Support and requires expertise in contemporary VET strategies, digital literacy, and assessment within a collaborative team.

Education Support Educator Full-time Temporary with a Possibility of Permanency

Details: Do you currently work within the school sector as a teacher or a Learning Support Assistant and are seeking a change? Are you looking to transition into the public service?

CIT Children's Education and Care is seeking an exceptional individual to fill the position of an Educator Level in the department.

What do we want?

We are seeking a collaborative, customer‑centric professional to fill this position, the key focus of this role is to teach on the Certificate IV in School Based Education Support program.

What is the position?

As a member of CIT's Children's Education and Care team, the individual will have experience and knowledge of contemporary VET and assessment strategies, digital literacy and compliance requirements. An in‑depth knowledge of the School Based Education Support sector is essential for this position.

What do I need?

To be successful in this position the applicant will display high levels of communication, will have experience in working collaboratively and effectively within a team and have the ability to develop high quality innovative teaching and assessment resources. A demonstrated interest in adult education and evidence of the ability to teach and assess a range of School Based Education Support program delivered face‑to‑face, online and in the workplace is required. Part time hours can be negotiated.

Eligibility/Other requirements: Refer to the ACT Public Sector Canberra Institute of Technology (Educators) Enterprise Agreement 2023-2026

An Educator Level 1 must hold a full Training and Assessment Certificate IV level qualification (such as TAE40122) or

• if the full qualification is not held, hold as a minimum prior to employment as an employee in any form, qualifications as required by the Standards for RTOs; and
• complete the full qualification within 12 months of engagement and be supervised by a suitably qualified person

All employees at Educator Level 1 are required to have relevant industry experience and vocational qualifications equal to that being taught, or as specified in the applicable training package or accredited curriculum specifications.

A minimum of five years' experience in the School Based Education Support sector is highly desirable. A current qualification in Education Support or an Education degree is highly desirable.

The successful applicant must hold a current driver's license

Notes: This is a temporary position available from 12 October 2026 Until 16 April 2027 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A Merit Pool may be established from this selection process and used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
