Job summary

The NSW Department of Education in Parramatta is seeking a Full-time, ongoing Legal Officer to join the School Law Team. The role provides high-level litigation advice, expert drafting, and timely correspondence on a range of legal matters affecting schools.

Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge of legislation, policy, and legal practices within education.
Strong drafting and analytical skills for complex legal documents.
Proven ability to provide high-level legal advice, advocacy and court representations.
Leadership to supervise, mentor and guide staff for professional development.
Excellent communication to engage with stakeholders and support service delivery.

Responsibilities

Provide high-level litigation advice, briefs and correspondence across areas of law relevant to education.
Support schools with legal matters and guidance through the School Law Team.
Engage with stakeholders across the Department to deliver timely, accurate legal services.
Supervise and mentor legal staff to maintain quality and continuous improvement.
