Job summary

First People Recruitment Solutions in Canberra is seeking an experienced Finance Officer for the Schools USI project. The role provides financial management support across budgeting, reporting, procurement, contract administration and financial operations to enable sound project decisions.

This 12-month contract starts in January 2027 and requires meticulous financial control and strong analytical capabilities within an education-focused portfolio.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in financial administration, budgeting, reporting, reconciliations and procurement support.
• Experience working on education and training portfolios is desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Financial Management and Administration: maintain records, reconciliations, and process transactions.
• Budgeting, Reporting and Analysis: assist in budgets, forecasts and financial performance reports.
• Accounts Payable and Contract Management: process invoices/payments and monitor commitments; support procurement.
