This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026. Students who enrol at the East Victoria Park Education Support Centre (ESC) present with a diverse range of disabilities and learning needs. East Victoria Park ESC works collaboratively with students, parents/carers, external agencies and the local school community to achieve the best outcomes for all students by creating sustaining conditions in which students, staff and the school community can thrive.

Our learning programs are engaging, relevant and functional as they focus on our student's individual needs, learning styles and abilities. East Victoria Park ESC curriculum has a strong focus in functional literacy, numeracy and communication skills while building independence and self-management skills for all students. Students are provided learning opportunities through evidence-based teaching and learning practices, play-based learning, community access programs as well as recreational programs. Our students also benefit from attending integration classes for specialist subjects in the primary school.

East Victoria Park ESC is seeking dynamic and motivated Special Needs Education Assistant to join our welcoming team.

The successful applicant should assist teaching staff in the delivery and assessment of planned education programs. You ideally will work under general supervision or autonomously and contribute advice and expertise, collaborating with school community members to support student achievement.

You should ideally be committed to enhancing students’ learning opportunities through ongoing reflective classroom practice as well as plan and engage in professional learning opportunities which includes collaboration with colleagues. Contributing to maintain a team environment is desirable.

Our school caters for 56 children from Kindergarten to Year 6 with cognitive, intellectual and/or physical disabilities. Applicants who have experience in working with students with special needs in a primary Education Support setting, as well as experience in working with children with Autism, Intellectual Disability, Physical Disability and complex behavioural needs will be highly regarded.

Familiarity with Augmentative Alternative Communication, Positive Behaviour Support, Berry Street Education Model and Zones of Regulation Program is highly desirable.

    • Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
    • Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
    • Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
