Job description

We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

As a Special Needs Education Assistant, suitable applicants will ideally possess the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties, as well as the ability to support student growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom setting. You should display a genuine passion for working with students and have highly developed organisational and interpersonal skills. Suitable applicants should be committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for our students. This role requires you to work as part of a dedicated team and provides you with the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to our school community. You may be working across a range of classrooms therefore the ability to be flexible will be an advantage.

Suitable applicants will support students with special needs while working collaboratively with class teachers and other support staff. We are ideally seeking collaborative, team focused individuals who can support students across a range of special needs. Applicants should be innovative and have strong behaviour management skills, particularly the ability to respond effectively to challenging or complex behaviours.

As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of planned education programs that will help students achieve success whilst supporting the general health and wellbeing of students.
