Job summary

NSW Treasury is seeking an Economist / Economic Advisor for a 12-month temporary role in Sydney CBD with flexible working options. You will contribute to the design, implementation and enhancement of the NSW Performance and Wellbeing Framework through high-quality research, economic and policy analysis, and evidence-based advice.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, statistics, public policy, law or related field.
• Experience developing advice and policy analysis to produce evidence-based recommendations.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with ability to explain economic issues clearly.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work with data to derive insights.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines with diverse stakeholders.
• Familiarity with wellbeing and performance metrics is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and enhance the NSW Performance and Wellbeing Framework through research, economic and policy analysis.
• Prepare clear briefings, presentations, correspondence and reports with practical recommendations for the Treasurer, Treasury Executive and NSW Government agencies.
• Contribute to or lead strategic projects, research papers and budget paper products.
• Build productive relationships across NSW Treasury and government, and work with stakeholders to apply performance budgeting and evaluation frameworks.
