Job summary

Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) in Echuca is seeking a Patient Transport Officer to deliver high-quality non-emergency patient transport within the community. Base rate is AU$32.47/hour with additional benefits in a fixed-term full-time role.

You will assess and transport patients between home, hospitals, and appointments, following RFDS guidelines. A valid driver licence and relevant checks are required for ongoing service delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification of Cert III in Non‑Emergency Patient Care, Diploma of Nursing, or equivalent.
• Experience in NEPT sector desirable but not essential.
• Full Victorian Driver Licence required.
• National Police Check and Working with Children Check; right to work in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessment and intervention during road transport.
• Deliver safe, compassionate care aligned with RFDS clinical guidelines and NEPT regulations.
• Monitor patients and evaluate responses to treatment en route.
• Work collaboratively with a partner clinician in a team‑based model.

About the Role

As a Patient Transport Officer, you’ll support people in your community by providing safe, professional non‑emergency patient transport—helping patients move comfortably between home, hospitals, and specialist appointments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessment and intervention during road transport
• Deliver safe, compassionate care aligned with RFDS clinical guidelines and NEPT regulations
• Monitor patients and evaluate responses to treatment en route
• Work collaboratively with a partner clinician in a team‑based model

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum qualification of Cert III in Non‑Emergency Patient care, Diploma of Nursing, or equivalent. Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic) students may apply on completion of second year subject units
• Experience working in the NEPT sector in an equal role desirable but not essential
• Full Victorian Driver Licence
• National Police Check, Working with Children Check and right to work in Australia
