AusFresh, a leading Australian food manufacturer, is seeking a Food Technologist to join their Quality and Compliance team. This full-time role involves ensuring product compliance, maintaining quality systems, and supporting new product development. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Food Technology and at least 2 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry, along with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
$75,000 – $85,000 per year + superannuation

About the Role:
Exciting opportunities are available for individuals with a background in Food Technology to join our Quality, technical and compliance team at our Broadmeadows facility. This role is ideal for candidates with a solid background in food safety systems, product development, and compliance with major Australian retailers.
You will report directly to the Group QA & NPD Manager, working collaboratively to uphold our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
· Product Compliance & Documentation: Maintain product specifications, review packaging artwork and labels to ensure compliance with FSANZ, Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, and IGA standards.
· Quality Systems & Audits: Support the maintenance of HACCP, SQFI, CFMSR, and WSE programs; participate in internal and external audits.
· NPD Support: Assist the NPD Manager with the development and implementation of new products.
· Conduct shelf-life studies, support new product trials, and participate in sensory evaluation and scale-up processes.
· Issue Management: Investigate and document customer complaints and product non-conformances using root cause analysis; follow up on corrective actions.
· Risk Assessments: Participate in food fraud (VACCP), food defence (TACCP), and allergen management programs.
· Staff Training: Deliver GMP and QA training; maintain records of competency and training.
· QA Documentation: Maintain detailed records of calibrations, pH tests, traceability exercises, and quality inspections.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with NPD, QA, Production, and Maintenance teams to improve product safety and integrity.
Selection Criteria
Qualifications & Experience:
The ideal candidate for this role is a proactive Food Technologist looking to deepen their technical and compliance expertise in a dynamic food manufacturing environment. A collaborative mindset and a strong drive to uphold product quality and safety are essential. We’re looking for someone with a positive, solutions-focused attitude, along with the following experience and attributes:
Educational Background:
· Degree in Food Technology, Food Science, or related discipline.
· Minimum of 2 years' experience in QA or technical roles in the food manufacturing industry.
· Experience working with HACCP, SQFI, CFMSR, and WSE standards.
· Familiarity with Australian food regulations and labelling laws (FSANZ).
Skills and Abilities:
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent documentation, audit preparation, and communication abilities.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office; GS1 Portal experience is a plus.
· Ability to work autonomously and with initiative.
· Highly motivated with attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
· Have a positive and flexible approach to a busy workload with time management and prioritising skills to meet the deadlines.
Experience:
· Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is ideal but not essential.
· Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SQFI, CFMSR standards.
· Familiarity with quality processes in a manufacturing environment is desirable.
