About us:
The Rockhampton Hospital has four operating theatres and two procedure rooms. The operating theatre complex is supported by a 6 bed Intensive Care Unit High Dependency Unit (ICU/HDU). The Department is accredited for specialist training and is heavily involved in teaching and research.
Rockhampton Hospital performed 6,771 elective surgeries during 2021 financial year. Our highly skilled theatre staff also delivered 3,398 emergency surgeries.
About the role:
- Participate in consultant (outpatient and inpatient) and operating services including endoscopy procedures within the area of general surgery expertise.
- Provide professional leadership and assist with the education and supervision of surgical trainees and other medical staff, medical students, and allied health, interested community groups and nursing staff and in the day to day management of surgical services including active participation in patient safety, clinical audit, research and service planning activities.
- Provide a high level of interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including the capacity to consult, negotiate and resolve conflict.
- Liaise with other Hospital and Health Service Departments as required ensuring the coordination of safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness of health services.
About you:
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in General Surgery with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA). In general, this will require Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in the speciality of General Surgery.
- Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing Continuing Medical Education (CME) program with the appropriate bodies.
- The appointee will be required to undergo a credentialing process and will be granted appropriate scope of clinical practice. There is a system of review and renewal of credentials and Scope of Clinical Practice for Specialists and Non-specialist Senior Medical Officers on staff.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $264,216 p.a. is comprised of:
- A salary rate between $125,763 - $133,338 p.a. (L25-L27)
- A salary rate between $105,166 - $122,157 p.a. (L18-L24)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
