About the role:

Reporting to the Lead Investigator, the Investigator conducts intelligence-led investigations into environmental crimes related to pollution and waste. The role involves proactively targeting high-risk offenders to prevent environmental harm and ensure accountability. Working under broad direction, you will contribute to a positive organizational culture, uphold high standards of performance and integrity, and foster partnerships across government, industry, and community to achieve organizational outcomes.

In this role you will:

  • Conduct proactive investigations to identify and stop environmental harm related to pollution and waste, and hold offenders accountable.
  • Collaborate with regional teams, Legal, Data Analytics, and other units to ensure investigations align with strategic priorities and public interest.
  • Respond to environmental and public health emergencies and incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, process, and investigative obligations.

Skills and experience:

  • A relevant tertiary degree or qualifications in investigations, law, or related fields are desirable.
  • Experience in criminal investigations.
  • Understanding of environmental regulation related to pollution and waste is desirable.
  • A proven track record in a similar role contributing to organizational excellence and a positive culture.
