Join Hume City Council as an Early Childhood Teacher

We are seeking passionate and experienced Early Childhood Teachers to join our dynamic teams in Melbourne, Australia. As an integral part of our early learning centres, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experiences of young children and fostering their growth and development.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and implement engaging, play-based learning programs that align with the National Quality Framework and Early Years Learning Framework
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development
  • Observe, document, and assess children's learning and development, maintaining accurate records and portfolios
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to plan and deliver high-quality educational experiences
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education
  • Contribute to the centre’s continuous improvement efforts and quality assurance processes
  • Mentor and support other staff members in their professional growth
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on children's progress and addressing any concerns.

Required Certifications & Qualifications

  • Qualifications suitable for a teacher under the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and the Department of Education and Training Victorian Kindergarten Funding Guide. Hold a current Police Check (within past 6 months) and Employee Working with Children’s Check, which demonstrates suitability for employment in a children’s service.
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field
  • Qualifications suitable for a teacher under the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010
  • Current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration and Police Check (completed within the last 6 months)
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma management certifications.
