Job summary

Newington College - Early Learning Centre (ELC) is seeking a suitably qualified Early Childhood Teacher to join our dedicated ELC team. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) permanent position that is to commence in January 2027.

Qualifications

• ACECQA approved Early Childhood Teaching Degree required.
• NESA accreditation and Child Protection Qualification for NSW Children’s Services required.
• First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training and Working with Children Check required.
• Demonstrated planning of pedagogical programs aligned with ELYF and NQS.
• Reflective educator committed to ongoing learning.
• Passion for delivering exceptional early childhood education.
• Knowledge of Reggio Emilia Approach and EYLF essential.
• Ability to utilise technologies to enhance learning.
• Commitment to child safety and creating safe environments.
• Understanding of child protection responsibilities and mandatory reporting.
• Ability to report child safety concerns per policy.
• Uphold Newington College's Child Safety Policy.

About the Position

Newington College - Early Learning Centre (ELC) is seeking a suitably qualified Early Childhood Teacher to join our dedicated ELC team. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) permanent position that is to commence in January 2027.

Reporting to the Head of ELC, the Early Childhood Teacher is expected to be leading and working as an active member of the ELC team. The successful candidate must be a NESA accredited teacher who has sound working knowledge and demonstrated skills in planning pedagogical educational program and is committed to deliver high quality of early childhood education, and care to the children of the ELC.

About You

We have deliberately not provided set and narrow selection criteria. However, it would be expected that the successful candidate will:

• have ACECQA approved Early Childhood Teaching Degree
• have current NESA accreditation & approved Child Protection Qualification for NSW Children’s Services
• have valid training & certificates including First Aid Certificate, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management Training and Working with Children Clearance
• haveworking knowledge and demonstrated skills in planning pedagogical educational program, reflective of the Early Years Learning Framework, the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standards
• be a reflective educator who is committedto ongoing learning
• be passionate about delivering exceptional educational programs
• have sound knowledge of the Reggio Emilia Approach and Early Years Learning Framework
• be able to utilise technologies to enhance learning and teaching
• be able to demonstrate commitment to child safety and the creation of environments where children feel safe, supported and empowered
• demonstrate understanding of child protection responsibilities, mandatory reporting obligations and professional boundaries
• be able to recognise, respond to and report child safety concerns in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements
• demonstrate commitment to upholding Newington College's Statement of commitment to Child safety and Child Safety Code of Conduct.

Newington Early Learning Centre (ELC) opened in January 2018. It provides for the educational needs of 60 three and four-year-old boys and girls who will be taught in 3 classes (1 for three-year-olds and 2 for four-year-olds).It provides a high-quality early years’ educationinfluencedonphilosophical approach used by the preschools in Reggio Emilia, Italyand based on the Early Years Learning Framework. In line with the Wyvern Prep school, the ELC will also follow the Building Learning Power framework of Guy Claxton, where children are explicitly taught the learning capabilities of resilience, resourcefulness, reflectiveness, and reciprocity.Intentional and spontaneous learning experiences are equally valued in our stimulating indoor and outdoor flexible learning environments where individual learning capabilities are supported and challenged every day. Our high quality ELC teaching team will be complemented byadditionalprograms provided by the College designed to support children's transition to Wyvern Prep school.
