About Us

Little Yacks Learning Years (LYLY) caters for children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age with a license for 44 children. LYLY is a long day early learning service nestled in the beautiful township of Yackandandah. It is uniquely positioned on Yackandandah Health grounds which is an intergenerational space comprising a Residential Aged Care Facility, Medical Centre, CARE Sanctuary and LYLY educational service, including 3 and 4 year old kindergarten.

Our distinctive location provides opportunities for collaboration between these spaces offering enriching intergenerational experiences for all those who meet under the Yackandandah Health umbrella.

Role Description

Little Yacks Yearning Years has an exciting opportunity for a VIT registered Kindergarten Teacher to deliver our 3 and 4 year old Kindergarten Programs at our unique service. This position is perfect for someone who has an extensive knowledge of the importance of nurturing relationships and the foundational development in the first 5 years of life.

Our small service is growing and we are looking for passionate Teachers to join our team. Little Yacks is looking for a candidate who will support our learning philosophies and is prepared to undergo supported and paid professional development.

You will have an experienced educational team supporting your integration of the Kinder Program into our service to help you succeed in the role. Little Yacks takes a home-like approach to education. Our newly renovated learning environments host a strong sense of belonging for children, families and educators.

We are looking for someone who can support this operating style. Educators at Little Yacks will have paid professional development time and training through our SRF plan and through individual learning plans.

Residents and children engage in our Intergenerational program on a fortnightly basis, including with other key workers of YH. Our programs enrich participants lives and help address social and community issues while enhancing knowledge and wisdom for members of all ages.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or an equivalent qualification as recognized by the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
  • A valid Teacher's Registration (Provisional or Full).
  • First Aid Certificate including training in asthma and anaphylaxis and CPR

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Deep understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard (NQS) to deliver high-quality education programs.
  • Ability to plan, implement and evaluate educational programs tailored to individual children's needs and interests.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging with children, families and colleagues.
  • Skill in observing children's progress, documenting their learning and using this information to guide future planning.
  • Ability to work effectively with other educators, support staff and families to create an inclusive, responsive, and respectful learning environment.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Prior experience in teaching in an early childhood settings.
  • Ensuring an inclusive environment where all children, regardless of their backgrounds or abilities, can thrive.
  • Familiarity with the Education and Care Services National Law and National Regulations.
  • Engagement in ongoing training and development opportunities to stay abreast of the latest educational trends and practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and technology tools used for children's documentation and parent communication.
