Department of Education Victoria – Meeniyan VIC is inviting applications for an Early Childhood Educator role at the new Early Learning Victoria Meeniyan centre. The role supports delivering high-quality play-based programs for 57 places, with guidance from national and state frameworks.

You will plan and implement educational programs, monitor progress, and build strong partnerships with families and staff in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • ACECQA approved Certificate III level qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care, or actively working towards completion.
  • Valid Working with Children Check, First Aid, CPR, anaphylaxis and asthma qualifications; Protecting Children - Mandatory Reporting online learning.
  • Agreement to a police check; an international police check for 12+ months residence outside Australia in last 10 years.
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
  • Safe Sleep Training is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support the team to deliver high-quality early childhood education guided by evidence-informed, contemporary pedagogy and practice
  • Contribute to and assist in the planning and implementation of the educational program, aligned with the National Quality Standards, VEYLDF and NEL Regulations
  • Monitor children's progress and support their social, emotional and cognitive development
  • Build respectful, collaborative relationships with families, children and colleagues, ensuring all children feel safe and valued

Early Learning Victoria (ELV), as part of the Department of Education, is leading the roll-out of 50 government-owned and operated early learning centres by 2032, with 18 currently operating. Our centres offer long day care, three and four-year-old kindergarten and pre-prep in accessible, play-based environments connected to local communities. We are committed to creating enriching work environments, encouraging professional growth and maintaining the highest standards of child safety.

About the Role

Opening in 2027 and located near Meeniyan Primary School, Early Learning Victoria Meeniyan (interim name) is a 57-place centre located in Meeniyan and will provide long day care, three- and four-year-old kindergarten programs.

This centre is located 152KMs from Melbourne and 15KMS from Leongatha.

In this role, you will:
  • Support the team to deliver high-quality early childhood education guided by evidence-informed, contemporary pedagogy and practice
  • Contribute to and assist in the planning and implementation of the educational program, aligned with the National Quality Standards, Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and National Education and Care Law and Regulations
  • Monitor children's progress and support their social, emotional and cognitive development
  • Build respectful, collaborative relationships with families, children and colleagues, ensuring all children feel safe and valued

About You
  • Experience as an early childhood educator (Certificate III), delivering a high-quality play-based educational program (recently qualified candidates are welcome to apply)
  • Sound understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, Education Care Services National Law and Regulations, the National Quality Framework and Child Safe Standards
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills with staff, children, families and communities
  • Experience working with children and families experiencing vulnerability is desirable
Qualifications and Experience
