Tetra Tech Coffey is a leader in geotechnical and environmental engineering with a Melbourne office that offers opportunities to grow within a strong national team.

We seek early career geotechnical engineers passionate about site investigations, client engagement and delivering quality reports across mining, civil, renewables and transport sectors. Travel to remote areas and interstate locations is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Up to 2 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and site work.
• Soil and rock logging competency, including in-situ tests.
• Interest in developing business development and analytical skills.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work independently when required.
• Willingness to travel to remote areas and interstate locations.

About the role

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your field engineering and subcontractor management skills to lay the foundation for a successful future as geotechnical engineer. We’re seeking a candidate who is genuinely passionate about completing and managing site investigations and contributing to geotechnical engineering projects.

In addition to your project involvement, you’ll have direct interaction with clients and contractors and will learn how to contribute to the preparation of geotechnical reports.

Working closely with our experts, you will collaborate on diverse projects across multiple sectors spanning mining, civil, renewables, dams and hydropower and transport infrastructure — offering you the chance to innovate, collaborate, and grow in a role with real impact.

About you

We are looking for early career geotechnical engineers that bring an inquisitive and practical approach, an energy towards their work and the team, and a rapidly expanding technical knowledge base. You will have strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build strong team and client relationships.

Ideally you will have:

• A Civil Engineering, Geology or Geotechnical Engineering degree
• Up to 2 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and site work
• Soil and rock logging competency, including performance of in-situ tests
• An interest in developing your business development and analytical skills
• Strong collaboration skills along with the confidence to work independently when required
• An enthusiasm to travel to where the action is, including remote areas and interstate travel
