Job summary

St John’s Catholic Primary School, Dubbo, is seeking a collaborative EALD Teacher to provide targeted English language support to students from diverse language and cultural backgrounds. The role emphasizes evidence-based planning, data-informed progress reporting and inclusive practices across K–6.

The successful candidate will collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists, design differentiated EALD programs, maintain records and engage with families.

Qualifications

• Hold relevant tertiary qualifications and accreditation to teach in NSW.
• Knowledge of current EALD pedagogy and English language learning approaches.
• Capacity to assess English proficiency and use data to inform teaching and report on student progress.
• Ability to design differentiated EALD programs and personalised learning plans.
• Capacity to collaborate with teachers and specialists, share EALD strategies and contribute to professional learning teams.
• Commitment to Catholic education and to gaining and maintaining appropriate accreditation to teach in a Catholic school.

• Engaging with parents, carers, agencies and community partners to support student learning and wellbeing.
• Valuing students' first languages and cultural identities in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a collaborative EALD Teacher to join the supportive team at St John's CPS, Dubbo. The role provides targeted English language support to students from diverse language and cultural backgrounds, enabling them to participate fully in learning.

We are seeking an EALD Teacher who understands and commits to supporting the mission and ethos of Catholic education within the school by:

• Providing targeted English language instruction across listening, speaking, reading and writing.
• Assessing and monitoring English proficiency using the EALD Learning Progression and ESL Scales.
• Designing differentiated, evidence-based programs for diverse language and cultural needs.
• Collaborating with classroom teachers, Learning Enrichment staff and other specialists to embed EALD strategies across the curriculum.
• Maintaining accurate records, semester reports and EALD census data.
