Family Law Partner – National Law Firm – Melbourne CBD Office

Are you an experienced Family Law Partner with a passion for delivering exceptional client service? This prestigious national law firm is seeking a highly skilled Family Law Salary Partner to join their growing team. Key Responsibilities:

As the Family Law Salary Partner, you will manage a diverse portfolio of family law matters and lead a team providing services in areas including:

  • Client Interaction: Attend initial client conferences, providing expert advice on family law matters, including property settlements and children’s issues.
  • Domestic Violence (DV) Experience: Advise and represent clients in DV-related family law matters.
  • Property and Children’s Matters: Handle complex property and children’s matters, offering strategic and practical legal advice.
  • Drafting & Correspondence: Draft high-quality legal correspondence for clients, solicitors, experts, courts, and Counsel.
  • Agreements: Prepare Binding Financial Agreements (BFAs) and Binding Child Support Agreements (BCSAs).
  • Negotiation: Engage in negotiations, including property settlements and children’s matters, to secure optimal outcomes.
  • Court Documents: Draft, finalize, file, and serve court documents, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Court Appearances: Attend hearings, mediations, and trials as required.
  • Mediation & Conciliation: Handle mediations, conciliation conferences, and court proceedings.
  • Court Preparation & Counsel Instruction: Prepare memorandums, briefs, and instruct Counsel at court events.
  • Divorce Proceedings: Draft and manage Divorce Applications and attend hearings.
  • Costs Agreements: Manage costs agreements and notices, ensuring compliance.
  • Police Prosecution Negotiation: Negotiate with police on behalf of clients, leveraging your experience as a duty solicitor.
  • Intervention Orders: Advise clients on Intervention Orders, ensuring sensitive and effective representation.
  • Wills & Powers of Attorney: Take instructions, advise, and draft Wills and Powers of Attorney.
  • Managing a Team: Lead and mentor your team to success, taking responsibility for their development.
About You:
  • Must hold a practicing certificate in Victoria or equivalent.
  • Must be at the Partner or Special Counsel level with proven Family Law experience.
  • Specialist accreditation is highly regarded but not essential.
  • Business development mindset and desire to grow and mentor.
  • Extensive experience in family law, including property and children’s matters.
  • Proven negotiation skills and court representation experience.
  • Experience in drafting Wills and Powers of Attorney.
  • Ability to handle multiple matters while maintaining high-quality service.
  • Strong drafting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience instructing Counsel and managing legal teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of family law legislation and procedures.
  • Ability to mentor junior lawyers and staff.
