Rockhampton Girls Grammar School is one of the original eight Grammar Schools of Queensland. Opening in 1892, Girls Grammar has served and supported the education of girls and young women for over 130 years.

The Position

Rockhampton Girls Grammar School invites expressions of interest from passionate and dedicated secondary teachers for 2026.

Applicants must be registered to teach in Queensland or have the ability to obtain registration.

Position Objective

All teachers play a vital role in creating a positive, safe, and encouraging learning environment. Teachers are expected to develop and promote creativity and higher-order thinking skills to enhance student performance, exhibiting high standards of professional practice.

Teaching Staff Commitment

Support students academically and in co-curricular activities. Support and extend the school's ethos and culture, foster enjoyment in learning, and provide opportunities for a whole-school experience. Engage in ongoing professional development and mandatory training.

Responsibilities and Duties

Teaching, Learning, Assessment, and Reporting

  • Punctual attendance at lessons, meetings, and duties, including supervision duties.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance records.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the Australian Curriculum and QCAA QCE.
  • Ensure planning aligns with curriculum, policies, and programs.
  • Implement the Pastoral Care program.
  • Embed ICT in teaching and learning.
  • Use data effectively to monitor and report student progress.
  • Provide an inclusive environment with differentiated learning adjustments.
  • Offer timely feedback to support student progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school events and professional development.
  • Ability to teach secondary specialist subjects where required.

Outside School Hours Duties

  • Attend parent-teacher interviews and school events.
  • Participate in professional development and cocurricular activities.
  • Attend camps and other school functions as required.

Essential Competencies

  • ICT proficiency, including Teams and OneNote.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
