Job description

The Railway Hotel in Bannockburn is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and passionate trade-qualified Chef to join our team on a full-time permanent basis.

The Position:

You are energetic, organized, and self-motivated with strong leadership qualities. In this role, it will be your responsibility to ensure quality and consistency are maintained across all operations. We pride ourselves on quality food, beverage, and customer service and are looking for an outstanding Chef with extensive experience in various food operations.

• Ensure food preparation, cooking, and presentation are of a high standard at all times.
• Prepare and cook foods of all types for menu items, special requests, or allergen requests for the bistro and functions.
• Assist in menu development and planning.
• Support cooks and other staff in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation.
• Implement and maintain effective cost control strategies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with relevant regulatory authorities.
• Ensure HACCP and OHS compliance and maintain correct food safety procedures.
• Work independently and as part of a team to achieve objectives set by the venue and group stakeholders.

The Person:

Reporting to the Head Chef and Venue Manager, you will be able to work a rotating roster over 5 days, including lunch and dinner shifts.

You must be passionate about food, lead by example, and possess drive, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to motivate and develop staff and maintain a positive team environment.

You must be able to work under pressure.

Applicants should have successfully completed Cert IV in Commercial Cookery.
