What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of People Data Analyst (Band 5 & Band 6).

If you have a keen interest in HR strategy, people experience and/or data analytics, then we want to hear from you! There are a number of vacancies across the People Analytics team. We are establishing a pool to fill current and future vacancies.

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

As a People Data Analyst, you will support your Team Leader to provide the AFP with relevant and timely HR reporting to assist in sound business decisions. Day to day activities will include:

  • Working with stakeholders to develop innovative dashboards using SAS Visual Analytics that engage the end users and drive data-driven decision making
  • Applying analytical techniques to draw insights into complex business problems
  • Identifying current and future data requirements and contributing to the design of datasets
  • Understanding how corporate systems work to inform what data and HR metrics can be utilised
  • Maintaining, QAing and providing advice on organisational structure processes.

In addition to the above, the Band 6 will be responsible for:

  • Promoting and educating the wider workforce on analytics
  • Quality assuring junior members’ dashboards/reports
  • Assisting Team Leader to mentor and develop junior team members

The AFP has range of informal learning opportunities to help you build and enhance your skills in analytics.

Essential requirements

  • A Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance or ability to obtain one
  • Conceptual and analytical skills
  • A learning mindset, particularly in relation to HR
  • A strong customer focus, designing products with the end user in mind
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and self-management
  • Proficiency in excel

Desirable Requirements

Relevant HR qualifications and/or experience in one or more fields of HR and/or data analytics (desirable for Band 6's).

Additional Information

These roles have been advertised nationally, however the will need to be worked from one of the following cities: Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne.
